To facilitate hassle-free charging for its upcoming electric sports utility vehicle e-ZS, MG Motor India Ltd has tied up with Delhi-based startup eChargeBays to set up charging stations at residences of customers.
As part of the partnership, MG will send experts to identify the best way in which MG ZS electric vehicle buyers can install an EV charger at their home, the company said in a release on Wednesday. The move comes ahead of the launch of eZS in December 2019.
According to Rajiv Chaba, president and managing director, MG Motor, the Union government’s recent announcement to create charging amenities for customers at public places is a positive step for the EV industry and the company’s latest association is aimed at supporting the government’s electric vehicle vision by providing a viable residential charging infrastructure.
“It also highlights MG’s commitment towards going the extra mile and delivering a convenient ownership experience for its EV customers. This partnership is yet another step towards driving EV adoption in the country,” the company added.
China’s SAIC-owned MG has a partnership with Delta Electronics India, under which the latter will install AC chargers in private vehicle parking sites such as homes and offices. In July, MG Motor announced an alliance with Finland’s Fortum to install 50-kilowatt fast-charging stations on the premises of MG dealerships in five cities.
